About us

Villa Avellans in Costa Rica, and The Cardinal in Port Elgin, have been a part of our story from the very beginning. 

Costa Rica formed the backdrop to our engagement in 2005, and when we returned a year later to get married, forty of our friends and family joined us in the celebration.  From that point Costa Rica captured our hearts and became a permanent fixture in our dreams. 

Fast forward to 2023 when we returned with our children only to fall in love with the pura vida all over again.  Experiencing Costa Rica with our children made it that much more special...soaking in the sun as much as in the nostalgia.  

That trip inspired us to purchase Villa Avellanas so we could spend more time here while being able to share this special place with our guests.   We hope that everyone who stays at Villa Avellanas experiences the same magic that made us fall in love with Costa Rica years ago.

The Cardinal in Port Elgin, Ontario, has also been a part of story for decades and truly is a one of a kind property.  Spanning 25 acres, there is an abunance of space to host you, your friends, and your family...with space left over to host your memories as well.
